Everyone needs a favorite family story to tell, preferably a funny or sentimental one (not sad, please).
- 1st - Comment on this post: Tell a little bit of your story and ask a question so we can try to guess who you will be talking about.
- 2nd - Once it is guessed then you will tell the full story.
- Example:
- Question: Who do you think drove a truck around a campsite until the gas ran out because he/she didn't quite know how to use the brakes?
- Full story: You guessed it! Aunt Dink, Mama, Grandma Long, Luzinka - whichever way you knew her, she was the silly, young girl who hopped into Grandpa Newman's Model-T Ford for a joyride. Not a moment after she finally got it going, she realized she had no idea how to stop. In quite a spectacle, she drove round and round a lady's campsite until she eventually ran out of gas and came to a stop. She had an angry lady yelling at her, worried and furious parents, and a hilarious story to tell her family throughout the rest of her life.
I always loved that story and I can see Mawmaw just laughing so hard telling it!

ReplyDeleteThis site is awesome!!!!! Thanks for such hard work!! My hugest memory is THE FARM!!!! Nuff said?? I think not-----I have lots to share about our "summer vacation hot spot"!! Food, family, canasta, slumber parties, dominos, giggin' frogs, the "tank", the jeep!!!
Yes I know giggin frogs was so much fun, but when Mawmaw through them in frying pan and they would jump I would SCREAM! Do you remember going to "Spring Branch" and sinking in quick sand for fun!
ReplyDeleteMeant "threw"
ReplyDeleteTell us more about giggin' frogs! I have never heard about this craziness!
ReplyDeleteThe frog gigging was a blast. We'd get in the little boat, and the gig was like a little pitch fork on a long handle. We would go around the tank, fairly close to the bank, with a good flashlight, and you would catch the Big Bull Frogs in the light, and pull as close as you could and spear the frog (a bunch easier with a .22 pistol). They (frog legs) would jump when you put them in the frying pan, but would also start quivering when you salted them. I really miss those days. Joye Lee
